Critiquing Photography

Descriptive: My photograph is descriptive because it depicts how many trash/recycling bins it takes to take care of an apartment complex.

Explanatory: This photo by Kelsey Lynch is explanatory because it shows the process of how to swim, specifically using a kick board at a young age.

Interpretive: My photo is interpretive because the viewer can make up their own assumptions about how and where the wheel barrow is used.

Aesthetically Evaluative: My photo is aesthetically evaluative because it captures the unique lighting that comes after a rain shower on an urban background.

Ethically Evaluative: RJ Reinhart’s photo is ethically evaluative because it shows how much of an impact the war in the Middle East is having on their population. It has gone so far that soldiers patrol areas with children going about their day.

Theoretical: This image by John Szarkowki depicts how viewpoints can change and how you can choose what and what not to keep in a photograph.
